THE
ORGANIZATION:
What is the Chamber
of Commerce
The Sabine Parish Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary organization of business
and professional men and women who have joined together for the purpose
of promoting the civic, commercial and industrial progress of our community.
The area's economic
well-being is directly related to the caliber of work that is done by
the Chamber. That is why the Sabine Parish Chamber has a major impact
on business, income and future growth of the area.
There are two primary
functions of a Chamber of Commerce:
- It acts as spokesman
for the Business and Professional community and translates into Action
the group thinking of its members.
- It renders specific
services of a type that c an be most effectively rendered by a community
organization both to its members and to the community as a whole.
Objectives of the
Chamber
- To promote a better
understanding of our Private Enterprise system.
- To coordinate
the efforts of commerce, industry and the professions in maintaining
and strengthening a sound and healthy business climate in the Sabine
Parish area.
- To sponsor aggressive
programs of work and stimulate activities which will provide for full
development and employment of our human and economic resources.
- To provide creative
business leadership and effective coordination of all interested parties
in solving community problems and in initiating constructive community
action.
- To create broad
understanding and appreciation of the great opportunities in the Sabine
Parish area, and to promote the advantages and assets of our community,
within the area, the state, and the nation.
HOW
IT OPERATES:
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the policy making body of the Sabine Parish
Chamber of Commerce. It's members represent the business and professional
leadership of the community. The Board consists of nineteen (19) members.
The President of the Chamber presides over all meetings of the Board.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee consists of five (5) members. It exercises the
powers of the Board between those times when Board meetings are held.
Committees
A committee system is the most effective means of harnessing energies
and abilities of volunteer workers. The committees are responsible to
the Board of Directors and report to the President.
HOW
IT IS FINANCED:
The Sabine Parish
Chamber of Commerce is primarily financed by the investment of its members.
The maintenance of an adequate level of support from all business and
professional interests in the community is essential to finance the programs
that are vital to the community growth and development. The amount of
membership may vary from the minimum of $50.00 per year up, according
to the investment schedule used for membership sales.
